Press and Media Bio: Brandy Hunt is equally a talented artist and a progressive entrepreneur. After
studying graphic design and fine art at Medicine Hat College, she opened
her first business, Imagine Ink Graphic Design and Printing in 1999. With
a dream and raw talent, she began alone in a 100sq ft space in the
mall and over 10 years built it into a premier design and printing
business in its own downtown building.
She went on to produce a
community magazine called Synergy highlighting arts, culture and local
entrepreneurs. She has sat on numerous community
development boards contributing marketing, business development and
design experience.
In 2012, she decided to take the leap and bring her
creative talent and eye for beautiful things to life in a new way and
opened her second business, Creative Fix. This
gorgeous retail store offers unique gifts, home décor, original and
reproduction art, jewellery, hats, handbags and accessories plus
espresso coffee.
As an independent artist, in the past three years she
has released 5 separate collections: the fruit series, the martini
series, the wine series, the tile series, and the bird series. She has recently taken up jewelry making and also has started re-creating old furniture.
Creative
Fix has become the hub for art classes for both kids and adults,
beginners and experts in art journaling, print making, photography,
mixed media, yoga and painting, and more. In 2014, Brandy Hunt sold Imagine Ink Graphic Design and Printing and it moved to a new location. In
true entrepreneurial fashion, she expanded Creative Fix’s coffee
business into a full coffee house providing the community with an
upscale, trendy space to meet friends and connect for business.
Her
love of art and artists has inspired an expanded line of art supplies
and a Creative Station available to rent by the hour to test the
latest great technique or product. As a designer, Brandy Hunt offers
home décor and design advice to businesses and home owners looking for
exquisite design elements and function. Creative
expression is like breathing for Brandy. There is always something
new. See what she’s up to now at Creative Fix in Creston BC.
The Creative Fix Story
After owning a graphic design and print shop for 12 years, Brandy became lost in the world of design and her job became stressful and too much like "work." She got the itch to expand into something more artistic but didn't know quite what. She started teaching kids art classes after hours but knew it wasn't enough to quit her day job. She also wanted to start making her own art again but couldn't quite find the time to fit everything in to her day. It wasn't until she traveled to Grandville Island in Vancouver where she was inspired by the artistic and creative shops that she visitied. She said to her husband, "I want to own a cool shop like these ones." and he said, "Well, do it then!" Brandy is not the type of girl to get an idea and not follow through so she obsessed for months on how she could open a funky retail space but make it viable in a small town like Creston. Four months later... she opened Creative Fix and the rest is history...
